Thank you for your interest in pony parties! Here are some helpful hints to ensure you have a great party!

 

1) Parties start around $200.00 for an hour of pony rides with two ponies in our standard service area, your price may be lower or higher depending on your needs and circumstances and distance from Morristown, Indiana. Please consider all that goes into horse care and husbandry, the insurance, the staff, and the rig that gets your ponies there! We do not charge for set up or tear down and are always impeccably early to your event!

 

2) The area you have in mind for the pony rides must be suitable. We cannot do rides in the street/driveway. They must be in an open area to which you have permission to use. If permission is not granted and we are asked to leave, services are considered rendered when we arrive at the event and money will not be refunded. This is also if we decide the area intended for the ride is unsuitable or dangerous, money will not be refunded.

 

3) Everyone must wear a helmet while mounted. Do not forget that while our ponies are wonderful, they are animals and see and hear things as an animal would: “Under Indiana law, an equine professional is not liable for injury to, or the death of, a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risk of equine activities. (I.C. 34-31-5-5). This includes, but is not limited to bites, kicks, being stepped on, bolting, rearing or otherwise causing injury or death to participants or their property.

 

4) We do our very best to be a neat outfit, however there are incidentals that will always be left behind such as scuffs, "poop-les", divots, wear etc.

 

5) You may provide cut up carrots and apples as treats for the ponies, they appreciate it and we do too. They truly work hard to provide the best experience for your party!

 

Other helpful hints:

 

• Please remind guests to wear sensible closed toed shoes if they want to ride, and preferably long pants as well. Sandals, flip flops, high heels etc will not be honored. We will provide a helmet that each rider must wear, no exceptions. By attending the event and consenting to a pony ride, they are releasing Blue River Carriage Co. from any liability.

• If a rider is unsure, nervous, unsteady or young, we recommend a parental side-walker that helps us with their child. When in doubt, walk with your child to reassure and steady them on the horse. Our job is the ponies- your job is your child!

• Children 40lbs and under can ride the miniature horse or the pony. Children over 40lbs must ride the pony. This is for the health of our sweet miniature horse. Yes, adults up to 140lbs may also ride the pony!

• The pony ride rules must be adhered to or we cannot continue with offering rides at your event. This includes not entering our given pony area, respectful attitudes and actions towards the ponies and attendants (calm voices, no screaming, loud music, disruptive events such as fireworks or party poppers etc), bounce houses must be a respectful distance away and wearing a helmet while mounted at all times.

• Abuse of the animals or attendants will not be tolerated. This includes arguing with the attendants or hitting, yelling, trying to scare, or  otherwise causing harm to our ponies. Should this incur, our services are considered immediately rendered and we will leave the premises.

• We will give your guests a “safety briefing” before rides begin to ensure everyone is ready to have a safe and enjoyable pony ride at your event!
